Protostellar mass accretion rates from gravoturbulent fragmentation
We analyse protostellar mass accretion rates Ṁ from numerical models of star formation based on gravoturbulent fragmentation, considering a large number of different environments. To within one order of magnitude, Ṁ ≈ MJ/τff with MJ being the mean thermal Jeans mass and τff the corresponding free-fall time. However, mass accretion rates are highly timevariant, with a sharp peak shortly after th...
متن کاملProtostellar angular momentum evolution during gravoturbulent fragmentation
Using hydrodynamic simulations we investigate the rotational properties and angular momentum evolution of prestellar and protostellar cores formed from gravoturbulent fragmentation of interstellar gas clouds. We find the specific angular momentum j of molecular cloud cores in the prestellar phase to be on average 〈 j〉 = 7 × 1020 cm2 s−1 in our models. This is comparable to the observed values. ...
متن کاملContrast Subgraph Mining from Coherent Cores
Graph paern mining methods can extract informative and useful paerns from large-scale graphs and capture underlying principles through the overwhelmed information. Contrast analysis serves as a keystone in various elds and has demonstrated its eectiveness in mining valuable information. However, it has been long overlooked in graph paern mining. erefore, in this paper, we introduce the co...
متن کاملCoherent Dense Cores
In a study of the velocity dispersion of molecular gas in maps of four dense cores, we Ðnd that : 3 (1) within the interiors of dense cores, the line widths are roughly constant at a value slightly but signiÐcantly higher than a purely thermal line width ; and (2) at the edges of the maps of the dense cores, it appears that the line width starts to increase. We suggest that these dense cores ar...
متن کاملFragmentation and Star Formation in Turbulent Cores
We examine the conditions under which binary and multiple stars may form out of turbulent molecular cloud cores using high resolution 3-D, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) hydrodynamics (Truelove et al., 1997, 1998; Klein, 1999). We argue that previous conclusions on the conditions for cloud fragmentation have limited applicability, since they did not allow for the nonlinear density and velocity ...
